Hand crafted from buffalo bone, this rune set presents the 24 runes of the Elder Futhark and one blank bone in the age old style, perfectly suited for divination. Also known as Viking Futhark or the Germanic Futhark. Runes played an important part in the lives of the Vikings.

They used the runes to help them divine the future, protection, healing, spells and outcomes in wars. They must be used with great reverence. First start by asking a specific question, then interpreting the meanings of the symbols inscribed on a set of bones. The way to select Runes are greatly varied and should be comfortable for the user. A single stone can be chosen from the bag in answer to a question, or a number of stones can be laid out in a variety of patterns (included with this set), for interpretation. A handful of stones can be drawn, then cast onto a special cloth, where unique meanings can be assigned to Runes in the face-up and face-down positions (face down is reverse of the original meaning). According to Norse mythology, Odin hung himself on a tree so that he could receive the knowledge of the runes. Suspended upside down for nine nights, he learned their mysteries and brought this knowledge back to his people. This gift from Odin was divine and possessed the magical powers of telling fortunes, protection, and casting spells.
