Please expect some variations as they are made individually by hand and not machine made. Vernon uses a "soft iron". It is iron but it's softer than say old iron railroad nails. He said no one can get hard iron anymore unless they find it in a junk yard. He said that soft iron is what he's used all 40 years of blacksmithing. I hope this answers any questions.
